"If you don't know your options, you don't have any." - Diana Korte
I hear this conversation many times as a doula, herbalist and just with my natural health conscience friends and to me the choice is very clear. To others, they never knew they had a choice. At North Texas Doulas we are all about choices, but what are our choices?
Here is a basic list of water choices that most American parents and families have access to:
Tap Municipal Water
Reverse Osmosis Water (store bought)
Filtered Water from Their Fridge
Filtered Water Pitchers
Nursery Water with Flouride
Filtration System - Over the counter and under
Whole House Filtration System
The fact is that most of these water choices have unwanted material in them (flouride, chlorine, rust, lead, impurities, bacterial, pharmaceutical drugs, etc.) So how can we know what is in our water you ask? You can freely send your water off to be tested. I belive that is the first action you need to take. It ... will ... sicken you!
So which water is best? From what I have researched distilled water is the best. It's actually like drinking a cloud (vapor). Distilled water copies nature's evaporation process and catches the "cloud". Distilled water removes ALL impurities, drugs, bacteria and viruses while reverse osmosis removes a very high percentage.
Distilled water is "hungry". For example when you drink distilled water it removes impurities from the body and cleanses. It helps carry waste products from your body. Usually added minerals in water are inorganic and not molecularily designed for maximum absorbtion. Plants usually do this for us! They take the minerals from the ground and rain and convert them to a usuable vitamin, mineral and nutrient. In other words, it is better to get our minerals from food!
Distilled water has been shown to be healing, espcially when ill. It's recommended by pediatricians and alike for infant formula.
If you are looking for some resources I would suggest going to Dr. John Christopher's website and also look into the work and study of Dr. Allen E. Bank.
So for your pregnancy, your family and your household, think DISTILLED!
Where do you get your distilled water?
I have my own distilled water purificaiton system that can be found at or around $100. For trips or when I have company I purchase distilled water from my local grocery store.
